Rhabdomyosarcoma

Finn was a massive Harry Potter fan, huge Lego nerd and had aspirations to become a famous vlogger. Sadly, just after his 9th birthday in 2016, Finn became extremely poorly and was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. Due to delays, at the diagnosis stage, Finn’s cancer had already metastasized and spread. Treatment began immediately and Finn began vlogging, setting up his own You Tube channel, ’Finn the Phoenix:fired up:ding!’ He continued to vlog throughout his illness, up until his death on 25th June 2018. We miss Finn, so very much, his good sense of humour, sassy personality and quirky way of looking at life. Finn continues to be our inspiration, each and every day.

This artwork invoked a range of emotions. Finn's class had been asked to draw superheroes and Finn had chosen his older brother, Dan, as the subject. Dan's incessant teasing did not affect Finn’s confidence or deter him from embracing his role as the most annoying, little brother, at every available, opportunity. Now Finn is, sadly, no longer with us, this picture has taken on incredible poignancy.
